Verifiable parental consent
COPPA + GDPR-K. Signed once at signup. Nothing your child says or does is stored until that step is done.
Background-checked tutors
Annual verified background screen for any tutor teaching minors before minor-facing bookings. Visible badge on the profile once cleared. Tutors without a current badge cannot appear in under-13 searches.
Recording: your call
Opt-in with two-sided consent. Encrypted. Visible to you only. Most parents leave it on for the review-at-bedtime moments; a meaningful minority leave it off.
IEP / 504 accommodations applied

Koydo takes 3%, your tutor sees ~93%, and the engine (curriculum, pronunciation lab, video, reader, music, AI tutor) is included in your weekly lesson — not a separate subscription. Will my kid actually like it?+
Most kids find Lingua lessons within their first session — the engine has six different ways of presenting a new word (read it, hear it, say it, draw it, sing it, use it in a scenario), and a real human tutor reading the room. Younger kids gravitate toward Music and Map; middle-schoolers toward Conversation and Reader. Trial lessons are free; if your kid isn't engaged within two sessions, we'll help you find a different tutor — different style, different age comfort — at no cost.
What about screen time?+
Honest answer: Lingua adds 30-60 minutes of screen time per weekly lesson, plus optional 10-15 min/day of practice (reader, vocab quiz, pronunciation streak). Almost all of it is active — speaking, reading, writing — not passive video. Many families budget Lingua as the substitute for one piece of their existing screen budget, not as an addition.
How does safety work for my under-13 kid?+
Three things. (1) Verifiable parental consent (COPPA + GDPR-K) before any data is collected — you sign once at signup. (2) Tutors teaching minors must hold a current verified background-screening badge before minor-facing bookings. (3) Recording is opt-in with two-sided consent, encrypted, and parent-visible. Most parents leave recording on for review-at-bedtime convenience; a meaningful minority leave it off.
What if my kid has an IEP or 504?+
Upload the IEP at signup and the engine applies the accommodations — extra time on quizzes, simplified UI, audio-first defaults, slowed TTS — across every lesson your child takes, with every tutor in your org. You don't have to re-explain it. The tutor sees the relevant teaching accommodations on their dashboard.

What if my child wants to switch tutors?+
One click. All their progress (CEFR level, vocab list, pronunciation history, lesson recordings) stays on your child's account — not on the tutor's account. Switching tutors picks up exactly where the last lesson left off; the new tutor sees the trajectory and doesn't make your kid re-take the placement test.
