The first 500 tutors
Every platform is generous while it is small. What you cannot usually get is the generosity written down, dated, on a page that does not quietly change. That is what this page is. Seven terms, in plain words, plus an honest list of the two things we have not built yet.
No countdown timer on this page — we would have to invent the number, and you would have no way to check it.
Seven terms. All of them live today.
You set your price and you keep all of it. There is no commission, no per-introduction fee, and no percentage on a package. This is not a founding-tutor discount — it is how Koydo works — but as a founding tutor you have it in writing, dated, on a page that does not move.
A public profile, appearing in the directory, and being introduced to a family are all free, with no monthly minimum and no card on file. The optional Pro Educator workspace is a separate choice, not a condition of listing.
There is no Koydo checkout for lessons and no Koydo wallet. You and the family settle directly on your terms, which means there is no balance of yours that we could freeze, no credit of yours that could expire, and no payout schedule of ours that you have to wait on.
You set the price, the cancellation policy and the curriculum, you teach under your own name, you accept or decline every inquiry, and you stay free to work on any other platform at the same time. We will never ask you to move a student you met somewhere else.
Placement is not for sale on Koydo. There is no promoted listing product, subscribing to the workspace does not raise your position, and paying for your screening does not either.
Every publicly listed tutor clears identity and background screening, and it renews. You buy it yourself through web checkout at the screening provider's price plus 20%, and we tell you the markup rather than hide it inside something vaguer. Paying for a screen never guarantees you clear it.
This page carries a publication date and a revision date. If any term above changes, the change is published here as a dated revision and founding tutors are told directly, in writing, before it takes effect — not in a summary email afterwards. That is the commitment: not that nothing will ever change, but that nothing changes behind your back.
The part most pages leave out.
A founding-tutor page is usually where a company promises a badge and a referral bonus. Here are ours, honestly labelled, so you can judge the offer on what actually works.
Not built. There is no badge field on a Koydo tutor profile today, so we are not going to show you a mock-up of one. When it exists it will appear here with the date it shipped, and every tutor inside the first 500 gets it whether or not they asked.
Not built. We know what we want it to be and we are not going to describe the mechanics until they work, because a reward you cannot claim is just a story. Tell another tutor about Koydo because the 0% is real, not because of a reward we have not shipped.
The honest answer is that there is very little programme yet. The 0% commission, the free listing and the fact that lesson money never passes through Koydo are all live today for every tutor, founding or not. What being one of the first 500 gets you is those terms written down, dated, on a page we do not silently edit, plus a commitment that you hear about any change before it applies.
We're not going to put a countdown on this page, because we would be inventing the number and you would have no way to check it. The cap is real — the first 500 tutors to list — and when it is reached this page will say so with the date.
No. Listing, being found and being matched are free with no card on file. Pro Educator is a flat $19 a month for the teaching workspace — scheduling, your students, lesson tools, the whole language engine to teach from — and it is a choice you can make later or never. It does not change your commission, which is already 0%, and it does not change your position in the directory.
No, and we would rather you didn't on our account. Listing here is free, so the sensible thing is to keep whatever already pays you and let Koydo be the listing that takes nothing. Anyone pushing you to move your existing students is pushing you towards breaching terms you agreed to elsewhere, and that is not a favour.
Then it appears on this page as a dated revision, and founding tutors are told directly, in writing, before it takes effect. We are not promising you eternity — no honest company can — we are promising you no surprises and a page you can screenshot today and hold us to later.
Any tutor who lists publicly on Koydo and clears identity and background screening while the cap is open. There is no audition, no application gate and no minimum hours. Screening is required of every publicly listed tutor because families are trusting us with children, and it is the one thing we will not make optional.
Listing is free and takes about as long as writing a good bio. Keep teaching wherever you already teach — this is a second shop window that never takes a cut.
