The expansion problem
VMIP had a 10-year-old preschool program with a waitlist. Graduating families wanted the immersion to continue but couldn't find a comparable elementary option in Vancouver. Renting space and hiring a full K-8 teaching staff was financially out of reach.
The Koydo answer
4 afternoon cohorts (K-2 Mandarin Foundations / 3-4 Stories + Songs / 5-6 Reading + Writing / 7-8 Conversation + Exam Prep) running 4 afternoons per week. Three lead tutors share the work; one curriculum spine authored by the preschool's founder serves all four cohorts at different depths.
Cohort spine reuse
The curriculum spine for the preschool already existed in tutor-head form. Codifying it into the Koydo lesson-plan library let it scale across cohorts and let new tutors onboard in days, not months. The founder's role shifted from teaching to curriculum maintenance.
What the founder said about cohort tooling
The cohort builder + roster + parent-portal combo let her run the program as a one-person operation. Pre-Koydo, the equivalent would have required a part-time admin.
