You do not have to pick. Listing on Koydo Lingua costs nothing, Koydo takes 0% of your rate, and your students pay you directly because there is no Koydo checkout for lessons. Keep teaching wherever you already teach, and see which one pays you all of it.
The ladder is real. So is the fact that it never resets.
Preply's commission does come down as you teach more. What its help page also says is that the steps are gated on lifetime hours taught on Preply — so the discount belongs to the platform, not to you. Start again somewhere and you start again at the top rate.

Not a lower cut. No cut.
There is no Koydo checkout for lessons and no Koydo balance. Your student pays you directly, which is why there is nothing of yours for us to hold, freeze, or expire — and nothing for us to take a percentage of.
Placement is not for sale. There is no promoted-listing product on Koydo, so no better-funded tutor can buy the space above you, and subscribing to the workspace does not move you either.
You teach under your own name, set your own rate and terms, and stay free to work anywhere else at the same time. Sharing your contact details with your own student is not a violation here.
Your background screening. Every publicly listed Koydo tutor clears identity and background screening, and it renews — you buy it yourself through web checkout at the screening provider's price plus 20%. We name the markup because a platform that hides one number will hide others. Paying for a screen never guarantees you clear it, and it never changes where you appear.
Preply's own commission page describes a declining rate from 33% for a new tutor down to 18.20%, with the steps gated on lifetime hours taught on Preply — so it never resets. Separately, the same page says Preply takes 100% of every trial lesson with a new student. Not the first trial: every trial, with every new student.
Koydo takes 0% of your rate, and it can, because your lesson money never passes through Koydo at all. There is no Koydo checkout for lessons and no Koydo wallet — you agree terms with the family and they pay you directly. Listing publicly and being matched with a family are free.
Two lines, both of them things somebody chooses to buy. Families subscribe for the learning side — graded lessons in 50+ languages, the reader, the pronunciation lab, progress, the AI tutor — and that family subscription is what unlocks messaging a tutor. Separately, a tutor can choose the Pro Educator workspace for $19 a month for teaching tools. Neither is a slice of your lesson.
No, and we would rather you didn't on our account. Listing on Koydo costs nothing, so keeping Preply and adding a listing that takes 0% is strictly better than swapping one platform for another. Multi-homing is the whole pitch.
We are not going to ask you to. Those relationships came with terms you agreed to, and any platform encouraging you to move them is encouraging you to breach a contract while carrying all the risk yourself. Bring your own students — the ones from your own network — and let both directories send you new ones.
There is nothing to pay for. Placement is not for sale on Koydo — no promoted-listing product exists, subscribing to the workspace does not lift your position, and paying for your background screening does not either. Preply's own help pages describe profile visibility as following its advertising algorithm and say it is working on distributing visibility more evenly.
